Many people do not know what type of grass they have. Here in Dallas Fort Worth we have 2 main types of grass, Bermuda, and St. Augustine.. These types of grass are warm season grasses, this means that it thrives in the spring and summer and goes dormant in the fall and winter
St. Augustine grass, pictured above, can tolerate moderate shade. St. Augustine only tolerates low traffic levels. St. Augustine grass maintains a satisfactory turf cover and competes well with weeds and other grasses.
Bermuda grass, pictured above is a widely used grass. Bermuda has a high light requirement and does not grow well in shady conditions. This type of grass goes into a semi dormant state during very dry conditions.
